According to the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on the Creative Economy, the creative economy is a vital and growing contributor to growth and employment in many countries, particularly in advanced industrial nations. It spans sectors such as advertising, broadcasting, architecture, arts/culture, craft, design, fashion, music, publishing, and technology. In Britain, the creative industries contributed £84.1 billion to the economy in 2014, and grew almost twice as fast as the rest of publicly traded companies in the UK. It also revealed that the number of jobs in the creative industries grew by almost nine per cent between 2013 and 2014 – almost double the rest of the economy as a whole (4.6 per cent).
